His Personal Name
The Lord’s personal name was Jesus, which signifies saviour He was so called prospectively by Gabriel to Mary. “And behold, you well-conceived in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus” (Luke.1:31). He was so named by the Angel to Joseph in His supernatural dream respecting Mary and the child. “And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21). He was so called on the day of His birth. “She give birth to the son, and He called his Jesus” (Matt. 1:25).
His official name, His official appellative was Christ. Which means the anointed one; Messiah and Christ of the scripture meet and identify themselves in the personality of Jesus, who was anointed of God as the prophet, priest and King.
Jesus is called “the son of man”. Jesus was in his condition of humanity, he was yet, thus best known to his followers in His humanity. There is one statement record by (Mark. 10:45 and Matt. 20:28). In which Jesus uses the title son of Man to give the significant of His death.
The mission of Jesus in the son of man passages is directly related to the salvation of men (Luke. 19:10). The son of man has an awareness of man’s lost condition and aims His mission to meet that need his mission is dominated by this Spiritual purpose. Mission into this world was to be the redeemer of lost mankind. “The son of God”. This title expresses the deity of the lord Jesus Christ distinguished humanity.
