The Fruit of the Spirit with the explanation

The Apostle Paul refers to these qualities as characteristics that Christians should demonstrate in their life and are produced by the Holy Spirit within them. These fruits must be present in the Christian knowing that they are indicative of a true believer.

(Galatians 5:22-23)

1.    Love: -It refers to selfless, sacrificial love for others, as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:4-10) The Love which God has shown is unconditional love to us by shedding His blood on the cross.

Jesus has loved us by

a.     By Caring

b.    By inviting us to Him

c.     By spending time with the sinners

2.    Christian joy is not dependent on circumstances but is a deep sense of happiness and gladness that comes from the relationship that we have with God.       (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20) The Epistle of Thessalonians says that Jesus is our hope, joy and glory.

3.    Peace: -Refers to inner peace, reconciliation with God and living in harmony with others. (Ephesians 2:14) the epistle of Paul says that Jesus Himself is our peace.

4.    Patience: - this involves being slow to anger and demonstrating forbearance and patience towards others, even in challenging situations. (Ephesians 4:2) the epistle of Paul said we must be thoroughly patient and gentle.

5.    Kindness: - this is the quality of being friendly with others, generous, and considerate towards and often putting their needs before one’s own.

6.    Goodness signifies moral excellence and integrity in character and actions. (Psalms 23:6)

7.    Faithful: - This virtue relates to loyalty, reliability, and trustworthiness in one’s commitments and relationships.

8.    Gentleness: - Involves having a gentle and humble spirit, showing humility and compassion towards others (Philippians 4:5)

9.    Self-Control: - This ability to exercise discipline and restraint over one’s desires and behaviors, particularly in the face of temptation.

These Fruits of the Spirit are often seen as evidence of the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. They serve as a guide for Christians to aspire to a virtuous and Christ-like character, promoting a life marked by love, joy, peace, and other qualities that reflect the teachings of Jesus.
